What Linear means
Linear mechanical switches provide a smooth and consistent keystroke without tactile feedback or audible clicks. Ideal for fast typists and gamers, they offer quick and quiet keypresses for a seamless typing experience.
The graph shows the typical shape of how a linear switch feels through its travel, not measurements for this exact switch.

Magnetic (Hall effect) switches sense a magnet in the stem instead of closing a metal contact, so nothing physically touches to register a press. They only work in keyboards built for Hall effect sensing, and in return give you an actuation point you can set in software.

Video: Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro Switch Sound Test | Ultra Smooth & Quiet
Creator: Click and Thock
This sound test was recorded and published by Click and Thock. We do not own this recording and claim no rights over it — full credit goes to the creator. It plays here through YouTube's own player so you can hear the switch before buying, and so the creator receives the view.
Bear in mind a sound test always reflects the keyboard, keycaps and mods it was recorded on, so the same switch can sound different in your own build.
