120Pcs HTV 0.18mm Switch Films for Cherry MX Style Switches

€14,95

A switch film is the cheapest way to tighten up a wobbly switch. These 0.18mm HTV films sit between the top and bottom housing of a Cherry MX style switch, closing the manufacturing gap that causes stem wobble and that hollow, plasticky rattle on top-out. The HTV and polycarbonate construction has a softer, matte surface than a hard PC film, so the sound lands deeper rather than sharper.

At 0.18mm these are on the thick side, and that is deliberate. They are the right film for housings that feel genuinely loose, particularly switches that have been opened for lubing and no longer clip together as tightly as they did new.

Key Features of HTV 0.18mm Switch Films:

  • 0.18mm thickness: thicker than the common 0.15mm film, so it takes up more slack in a loose housing.
  • HTV and polycarbonate: a softer, matte material that dampens more than a hard film, for a deeper and less clacky top-out.
  • Open frame design: the cut-out centre keeps the contact leaf and the LED window clear, so the switch still registers cleanly and RGB shines through.
  • 15 x 11.6mm footprint: the standard MX film size, so no trimming is needed.
  • Completely reversible: no glue and no permanent change. Take the film out and the switch is back to stock.
  • 120 films per pack: enough to do a full-size board and keep spares for the next build.

Compatible Switches

Fits standard Cherry MX style housings, including:

  • Cherry MX
  • Gateron, including Ink and G Pro
  • Kailh standard MX-style
  • JWK and Durock, such as Tangerine and Alpaca
  • Akko, Everglide, Tecsee and TTC

Not Compatible With

Do not film Kailh Box switches. Their winglatch top housing is already tight, and a film usually stops the switch closing properly. Low-profile switches are too shallow to take a film at all.

Why Choose a 0.18mm Film?

The honest answer is that most switches are fine on a 0.15mm film, and that is the sensible default. Move up to 0.18mm when you have done the wiggle test — grip the top housing and try to shift it sideways against the bottom — and it still moves noticeably. On an already-tight switch a 0.18mm film can make the two halves hard to clip together and will not improve the sound.

Ideal for keyboard modders

If you are already opening switches to lubricate them, filming adds a couple of seconds per switch and is the single cheapest change you can make to how a board sounds. Allow roughly one to two hours for a 60% board, and always test five switches before committing to the whole set.
